How to Meditate

Meditation is the journey of our consciousness.
Meditation is the journey of our consciousness to Self. To reach the highest state of consciousness, we must form a good meditation practice. The more you meditate, the greater your awareness will be to find solutions to every problem you are facing. A continued meditative practice will bring a life free of struggle, a life filled with joy.
Sleep and meditation are both various levels of consciousness. Sleep is simply unconscious meditation. We receive a far less amount of Cosmic Energy when we sleep than what we receive in meditation. To function with clear thought and enough energy to maintain a healthy, vitalized body, we must participate in a regular meditation practice.
The Technique
An effective technique is essential to receive the many benefits of meditation. The first aspect for a successful meditation is posture. You may sit in any posture as long as you are comfortable and stable, sitting either on the floor or in a chair.
Close your eyes and allow your body to relax. Repeating the word “relax” several times in your mind will help your body to relax more quickly.
Begin to observe your breath as you breathe normally. Watch as it moves in through your nose, down your throat, and into your chest. Be aware as it reverses course and comes back up through your throat and out your nostrils. Do not repeat any Mantra and do not think. Simply witness the breath and if any thoughts arise, just allow your attention to return to the breath.
Using your imagination see the breath moving into your heart rather than into your lungs. See your breath moving in through your nose, down your throat and in to your heart center. Feel your heart expand with your in-breath and exhale by imaging an opening in the middle of your heart center in which your breath exits. You will notice that as you focus on the breath moving in and out of the heart, your thoughts are quiet.
While observing the breath which is constantly moving, become aware of the background behind the breath. This is the place of stillness and the entry into the deepest part of the Self. Watch the breath but become more and more aware of the stillness, the unmoving part of the Self, behind the breath. Gradually move your point of focus from the breath to the unmoving stillness.
This is the meditation technique that will bring you into a state of peace and connectedness. The more you meditate, the more Cosmic Energy you will receive. Through the flow of Cosmic Energy, your energy body is cleansed, the Chakras are activated, and the physical body is perfected to a state of optimum health.
